1517William was the second son of John and Jane, nee Phillips. He was born at Wootton Bassett, County of Wiltshire, England. William migrated to Australia with his wife and family, arriving at Port Adelaide on December 19 1849. They made the voyage in the sailing vessel "Minerva". They would have departed from London on 14/9/1849.
45 Twin daughters, MaryAnne and Martha (b. 7.9.1847) died at sea before reaching Australia. William was an ordained Minister of the Primative Methodist Church. He later rejoined the Wesleyan Church as a lay preacher, and made his living in "scholastic pursuits", probably a school teacher. He died in 1878, and was buried at Moonta, South Australia.

47(pg69) However when he died it was reported that “for five and twenty years he laboured as a minister”(PM). “but subsequently attached himself to the Wesleyans, as a lay preacher....for some years he usefully employed himself in scholastic pursuits”.
In some of the SA directories there are lists of the ministers in each Church. He was not listed in the 1864 directory as a minister but in that year there was a Wm. Wiltshire, licensed school, Balhannah (about 30k ESE of Adelaide)

In the 1867 (pg81) Almanack there was an entry for Rev. W. Wiltshire (PM) at Mintaro (120k north of Adelaide).
In the 1869 (Pg74) and 1870 (Pg74) Almanacks there were entries for Rev. W. Wiltshire (PM) at Willunga, but his name did not appear in subsequent years as A P.M. minister.
In the 1872 SA Directory (Pg135) and 1873 (Pg222) there are entries for a W. Wiltshire, licensed school, Sellicks Hill (near Willunga). In the directories from 1874 (Pg228) to 1881 (Pg324) there were entries for a William Wiltshire, school, Moonta Mines (about 160k NW of Adelaide). The continued entry after the death of the ex-Reverend William Wiltshire may be due to an oversight on the part of the people who compiled the directories or the existence of another William Wiltshire (maybe his grandson William Thomas?)
40In 1832 William was appointed to the Pimitive Methodist Circuit as a Minister, at Shefford, Bedfordshire. His appointments were 1838 Frome, Somerset, 1840 Pontypool, Monmouthshire, 1841 Tredegar, Wales, 1843 Bainbury, Oxfordshire, 1845 Farindon, Berkshire, 1847 Micheldever, Hampshire, 1848 Maidenhead, Bershire. The Adelaide Times 20-11-1849 or 19-12-1849 states their migration. In 1853 William applied to teach at Enfield. On 28-1-1853 a temporary Licence was granted to Mrs Wiltshire. 1854 Renewal of licence, 1857 licence for William to teach at Mt Barker Springs. In 1859 family moved to Callington, school opened at Callington in 1859. In 1861 moved to Balhannah. In 1862 Application to teach. In 1863 resignation. 1869 Appointed to teach at Sellicks Hill. 1873 resignation. In 1873 moved to Moonta Mines, application to teach at Moonta Mines also East Moonta, 1874 resignation Moonta Mines. 1875 applied for retiring allowance. 1876 died at Moonta.
